Eagle Rider and their deceptive marketing!
Imagine you were told by one of your customers that when they looked you up on Google, your competitor was advertising themselves as you. Imagine your phones weren’t ringing like they normally do in the busiest time of the season. Imagine your reservations were down considerably. Imagine your bewilderment if you were asked by customers if your competitor had bought you. Imagine your horror when you Google searched your own business name and the first thing you see was an advertisement that said your business name but had your competitor address, phone number, and a link that went directly to their reservations.

Well this is what happened to us. We contacted Google and were told they would investigate it, we contacted Eagle Rider and we were told it was a typing mistake. Umm, ok.
We have a small budget for advertising and we depend on word of mouth and social media for our customers. Since most of our customer’s know our name we depend on search engines such as Google search, for our customers to find us. This is why this type of advertising is so disturbing to us.
Eagle Rider is the largest motorcycle rental agency with offices worldwide and that’s why we couldn’t understand how they get away with it, in fact I'm not sure how Google the world’s largest search engine gets away with this either. If you type in Google's search engine our company "Dubbelju Motorcycle Rentals" Google had allowed Eagle Rider to advertise that they were us, Dubbelju motorcycle Rentals but with eagle riders address, phone number and a link that goes directly to their reservations. This is a blatant fraudulent misrepresentation made by some of the largest companies in the business.
We weren't looking for any compensation from eagle rider, just a "Sorry for doing the wrong thing". We should all be held accountable for our actions and to keep to a code of ethics, right? Well, were not holding our breath anymore for that apology from Chris McIntyre or Eagle Rider and while Google did say it was deceptive and in violation of their policy they said since it had been removed Google wasn't going to take any further action, so much for being held accountable. I guess I thought Google might pull eagle riders ads for a week or something, I must be too naive. Even with this Eagle Rider still has an ad that if you type our business name “Dubbelju Motorcycle Rentals” in the search eagle rider still comes up but as as “Motorcycle Rentals” with their contact info, it's just a shame they can’t use their own business name. Still a bit deceptive but at least it’s not misrepresenting them as us by using our name.

Google also went on to say they do not monitor the usage of business names as keywords, and when we asked how long this had been going on they said they wouldn't comment. Nice! The BBB, SBA, NSBA, news, nobody wants to touch this all claiming that it’s a legal matter and not really news worthy. Well we don’t want this to happen again, let alone to someone else, so let's just put it out there as a warning. To all business out there, you should periodically search your business name and use the different search engines to make sure your competitors are not advertising themselves as your business to deceptively misrepresent themselves as you and steal your customers. I assure you this is not something we think is an acceptable behavior and you will never see this from us. Thanks Dubbelju Friends and see you on the road!
